Consumer survey on the key factors forming their choice for buying aprtments

“Marketing and Media” journal from the spring 2014 has published the results of the survey on the real estate criteria guided by apartments’ buyers in newly buit residential houses. The poll unexpectedly revieled that one of the top three priorities are the energy costs, while the quality of construction materials used is the fourth important factor when buying the property.

The most important attributes of the new property are the following:

One-third of respondents aged 18 to 60 years, plan to buy a house in the next 3 years, a quarter of respondents considering the purchase within next 5 years, and more than two fifths of the respondents did not think about buying at all. Accordingly, the possibility of acquiring a new home is high among young people. When object is selected the most important role played are the price and location. Significant role in the decision-making process play monthly housing costs, including utilities costs and monthly mortgage payments.

Further, survey showed the following differences in priorities:

Women: the price, the monthly utilities costs and infrastructure development,
Men: location, degree of landscaping the surrounding area, quality of construction, energy-saving characteristics of the object,

Respondends under 35 years old: the price, infrastructure, availability of public transport,
Respondends over 35 years old: the location and the building materials used.
